Mark your calendars for a special Two-Day event!
We are partnering with the Tahoe Jewish Community for two days of riding, 6/7 & 6/8. This ride is designed to bring ALL our Chai Cycle spokes together. We’ve got riders from the East Bay/Contra Costa, South Bay/Peninsula, Sacramento, Reno, and Lake Tahoe, coming to enjoy cycling, conversation, and community together.
Ride one or both days. (This is timed to coincide with America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride which many of us are riding).
Sunday, June 7 - Mountain Pass Climb (Luther Pass)
33 miles, 2,100’ of climbing and the ascent averages 5%
Our route will be undulating from Temple Bat Yam as we spin our legs towards route 89. We’ll ride through a neighborhood approaching the climb on South Upper Truckee Road, then climb a quiet campground ride avoiding most of the highway proper for the climb. At the Pass, we’ll take a photo, enjoy the unique Grass Lake – the largest sphagnum bog in California.
Monday, June 8 - Local Ride
25 miles, 1,400’ of climbing with one sustained ~1 mile climb
An in town classic ride exploring the city of South Lake Tahoe, some super quiet back roads near Fallen Leaf Lake, a short hardy climb, and more. This ride offers bike path, quiet pavement sections, beautiful vistas, and a great way to experience road riding in South Lake Tahoe. This ride is a great recovery ride for those choosing America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride to ride around the Lake on Sunday, and a great sustained effort for this focused on shorter mileage.
Both rides for this 2-day experience will be wonderful opportunities to meet, learn together, and live the missions of
Chai Cycle and Tahoe Jewish Community.
