One World Through Art is a project being developed with the organizers of First Friday and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The goal of this initiative is to help combat hate and violent extremism through education and understanding and provide an avenue for greater connectivity.

The theme for the month of May is “One World Through Art” and the goal is to bring together members of all the diverse communities and religious groups in Las Vegas in order to bridge gaps of misunderstanding/bigotry/hate/etc through the universal platform of art.

The Jewish Federation’s activation area will be themed “A Taste of Shabbat.” The area will include an opportunity for participants to join in Shabbat rituals and traditions including lighting Shabbas candles, eating Challah, and drinking grape juice.

We will also have a PJ Library family friendly area with Shabbat Story time and Challah cover decorating crafts.

The concept is truly incredible and the beginning of making our community a safer, happier, healthier place for people of all backgrounds! Together we are using ART and community as a platform to educate people about the various traditions and practices of all the beautiful cultures in Las Vegas.

First Friday in May is estimated to attract more than 30,000 attendees between 6pm-11pm.
