Dan Spigel, will present a program on the Importance of Family History. Dan will give us the unforgettable true story of a family trapped between the Russian Revolution and World War II with scenes from his film story of his mother’s family, “House of the General”. Seen through the eyes of Liza Kharacter, the epic story begins with the dawn of the 20th Century, their loves, sacrifices, and their fight for survival during the Holocaust. Their journey carries the viewer on a tumultuous ride with an uncertain future. It took Dan Spigel years to discover cousins who were among the Russian émigrés arriving in Dallas and from them, he learned more about his mother's family and the story of her life in the general's house. Dan wrote and directed the movie, which was filmed entirely in Texas with the exception of an opening scene in Paris, France.
