Rabbi Joachim Prinz, a refugee from Nazi Germany came to the United States in 1937 and immediately identified with African-Americans experiencing the same kinds of oppression he had known as a Jew in Hitler’s Germany. Prinz became a civil rights activist, working with Martin Luther King, and speaking at the 1963 March on Washington.
