Position Overview:    
The Program Coordinator, Outreach & Engagement, Northern Nevada is a key member of the Jewish Nevada team. 

 

Are you a warm, welcoming, self-starter who is excited about and understands the importance of participating in the Jewish community? The Program Coordinator, Outreach & Engagement, Northern Nevada will work closely with Jewish Nevada (JN) staff and volunteers to connect un-involved, under-involved, and involved members of the community to Jewish communal activities. 

 

Jewish Nevada is Nevada’s statewide Jewish Federation. Your role will bring your passion for building the greater Jewish community to create opportunities that engage both Jewish and the wider communities here in Northern Nevada. As the Program Coordinator, Outreach and Engagement you will be responsible for two critical areas of growth in Northern Nevada: Young Leaders and Family Engagement. In this role you will build a local volunteer Council for both areas to plan, organize, and implement outreach and engagement programming.

 

What You Will Do:

·       Create welcoming, vibrant, and deeply enriching Jewish environments for Young Adults and Jewish Families in the Northern Nevada area.

·       Engage and empower your volunteer councils from different cohorts and demographics to create community, connect them to opportunities, and strengthen Jewish life and engagement.

 

What You’ll Own and How You’ll Grow:

 

Young Leaders

·       Identify, recruit, and track young adults in the Northern Nevada Jewish community. 

·       Work with lay leaders to coordinate, promote, staff, and follow up on young adult events. 

·       Facilitate leadership development for this population and volunteer and leadership positions at the Federation, partner agencies, and synagogues.  

·       Serve as a concierge for the young adult population, assisting in their integration into the greater Reno Jewish community. 

·       Manage fundraising for young adults – identify prospects, create and monitor solicitation assignment lists, and follow-up with volunteer solicitors. 

·       Work in partnership with the Federation marketing department to implement and maintain an online and social media presence; and create and edit content for marketing efforts. 

·       Build and work with the Northern Nevada Young Leaders Council and lay leaders to envision, plan and execute engaging and enriching opportunities for involvement.  Ensure strategies and tactics are positioned with various gateways of entry for singles, families, and couples in the areas of networking, volunteerism, leadership, education, social, etc. and that it is all in line with the mission of the Federation. 

·       Position the programs and experiences of the Young Leaders division as the go-to option for Jewish Young Adults in Northern Nevada.  

 

Family Engagement

·       All the above, moving focus to Family Engagement, plus be responsible for the professional planning, direction, supervision, and administration to all programs related to, but not limited to:

  • PJ Library
  • PJ Our Way
  • Shalom Baby
  • Playgroups
  • Cub Scouts
  • Collaborate with partner agencies, including synagogues, on programs and classes.

Community Engagement

  • Work with the Director, Community Engagement (Northern Nevada) and the Director, Jewish Student Life on local community events and fundraising.
  • Assist Director, Community Engagement (Northern Nevada) on programs such as: Campaign Call-a-thons, Milk & Honey, Jewish Heritage @ the Ballpark, Jewish Film Festival, and any other special events.
  • Be a partner to colleagues in other Federation departments, assisting in the growth and engagement of Jewish Nevada.

·       Attend all Jewish Nevada meetings and events as required—virtually or in person.

 

What You Have Accomplished:

·       Bachelor’s degree.

·       3-5 years of professional experience in Jewish communal work, experiential or higher education. 

·       Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality across all areas.

·       Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

·       Significant computer skills; including MS Office, CRM platforms and social media.

·       Must be willing to work nights and occasional weekends. 

·       Willingness/opportunity to grow and develop as the role grows.

 

Compensation:

·       This is a part-time position for 20-25 hours per week. Compensation not to exceed $25,000 per year.

·       Part-time employees are eligible for 403 (b) contributions, paid time off, and holiday pay; to be discussed upon hiring.
